The Tutorial Ministry is one of the many Outreach Ministries of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  Our mission is to provide students an opportunity to be tutored in academic areas that are challenging and/or difficult.  Our goal is to strengthen academic performance in basic areas, as well as specialized coursework.  We believe that positive reinforcement, very small groups, and a Christian environment significantly augments family and school involvement in the intellectual development of the child.

Encouraging an “I can” attitude within the student will hopefully result in high self-esteem in each student as well as overall scholastic improvement.  It is hoped that when students recognize they have the full capacity to grasp concepts they will apply a positive outlook to overall studying and academic performance.

Tutors and students meet during the school year on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.  A one-to-one ratio of tutor to student is ideal to foster an effective ministry.  Homework assignments or related materials are used as learning tools.
